Arturo Marquez

Prominent Mexican contemporary composer of orchestral music who incorporates latin American styles in his works.

He was born to a musical family, so he was exposed to several music styles from early age. In his teens, he moved with his family to Los Angeles. He started composing at the age of 16 and then attended the Mexican Music Conservatory in the 1990s.

In Mexico he started frequenting the city's dance halls where he discovered the "danzón" which incorporates Mexican style in a classical form of music. He composed 8 "danzónes", inspired by the Cuban dance of the same name, which earned him wide recognition in Mexico and later on around the globe.

His music is now being performed worldwide and he has composed numerous works for films and dances.
