Italian baroque composer who, although famous as an opera composer across Europe during his lifetime, is known today mostly for his instrumental music. He was extremely productive as a composer, having written an enormous amount of works He is also remembered today for a work called "Adagio in G minor" and his "Concerto for Oboe in D Minor".
Albinoni was born in Venice, where he lived all his life. His family was wealthy (his father was a paper merchant) so he was financially supported by his inheritance. He studied violin and singing when he was young, but until his father's death he was not able to further study music and become a musician, as under his father's terms he had the obligation to take over the family business. This did not impede him from touring the most fashionable international opera houses. He then became a prolific composer who also ran a successful academy of singing.
Part of Albinoni's work was lost in World War II, as a result little is known from his music and life. Also, as most of his operas works and instrumental music were not published during his lifetime, these have been lost in time.
