This prelude is part of a set of 10 Preludes. Completed in 1901 by Rachmaninoff, it begins with a marching heavy and rousing rhythm which then gives way to a completely different relaxed and romantic lyrical part. It is probably one of these rare classical pieces where one feels the need to dance when listening to the opening upbeat rhythm. Its energy and power in the beginning, alternated with the romantic captivating melody makes this music extraordinary. Energy, power and passion successfully collaborate to leave us with an uplifting feeling. A suggested title for this music piece: "Between power and romance".
