Probably the most influential music in film history, the music for the series of "Star War" movies, between 1977 and 2019, is their primary signature. The scores of the 9 "Star Wars" films, which total 18 hours of music, are being performed by a symphony orchestra, joined in several sections by a choir.
George Lucas, the director of the films, had originally compiled his favorite classical music (from Wagner, Strauss, Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky, Mozart and Beethoven, among others) to use as music for the films. But then, the composer John Williams persuaded Lucas to create original music that would be more coherent with the film. Lucas then gave Williams the instructions to outperform these masters and Williams delivered legendary music from the future.
There are many themes in all "Star Wars" films since each major character has their individual theme, which is heard and transformed as the drama develops. The most well known is the Main Theme, but the effect of any Star Wars score on us is similar: helping us to imagine a futuristic reality of different dimensions by transporting us through spaceship to deep space and unknown planets.
